The aim of this project was to explore the possibilities of the book as an art object by creating an artist's book combining original shapes, textures and materials. With no set theme, the only technical constraint was to produce a Japanese binding.

Intention

The folded sheets characteristic of this binding reminded me of vinyl record sleeves, which led me to design a record player housing the book.

Binding

Japanese binding is one of the simplest bindings to make. It requires no glue, only thread and a needle.
