Ouest Park is a Normandy festival that aims to be inclusive and intergenerational, featuring all kinds of music and artists. As part of our studies, we had the opportunity to decorate the festival's private areas (artists' dressing rooms, volunteer reception, dining area).
Brief
Several groups were formed and each was assigned a space. My group was in charge of “La Halle”: the volunteer reception, an office for the staff and an artist's dressing room. The aim was to favour second-hand items and give new value to discarded products.
Research phase
To begin with, we created moodboards, plans and photomontages featuring salvaged furniture, to make sure we were heading in the right direction before moving on to production.
Production phase
We built the seat from salvaged tyres, drilled and bolted together: the round seat rests on two boards cut with a jigsaw and glued, covered with stapled fabric over padding, then glued onto the tyre with all-surface adhesive. To brighten up the partitions, we also created a mural using leftover paint, first testing it on an offcut of brushed cotton.
Final result
The festival had a partnership with Emmaüs, who lent us part of the furniture and decorations for the duration of the festival. Here is the result in photos and in 3D.
